I associate these with young whisky. In McCarthy or Stranahan or even Jack Daniels Green I'm willing to see them as part of the friskiness of the young whisky, but in Kilchoman, which is now competing neck and neck with other mature whiskies, it's a minus in my book. Interestingly enough, the younger Kilchoman Spring 2010 release does not display these notes at all, and they are replaced by some very nice sherry.Florinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14445344658258056628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462121554175947733.post-34771373583609161652012-10-20T11:02:42.980-07:002012-10-20T11:02:42.980-07:00The anise might just be my response to young peat....The anise might just be my response to young peat. I also found it in the McCarthy's Single Malt that I was trying a few evenings ago.

Thankfully there's a bar in the are that I know has Kilchoman Sherry Cask, so I can try it before I buy an entire bottle.Jordanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06448702693643593156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462121554175947733.post-69939901863751716852012-10-20T10:37:16.970-07:002012-10-20T10:37:16.970-07:00Thanks for the shoutout! ...Thanks for the shoutout! Great tasting notes too.

Still haven't found the anise, but it's not for lack of trying. :-) You're right about it changing it in the bottle. I have two drams left. We'll see what time and oxygen do to it.

And yeah their Cask bottlings look delicious. If you spring for one, please let us know how it is!Diving for Pearlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02373371259792882112noreply@blogger.com
