As usual, an excellent review.
I partic...Jordan,

As usual, an excellent review.

I particularly enjoyed your pieces on Diageo and Ardbeg's Ten pitted against Kilchoman's Machir Bay. I would be interested in reading your thoughts on Corryvreckan.

I have a bottle of Batch 6 Laphroaig CS which I have not yet opened - I do hope it is not on the sweet side. I should have picked up a bottle of Batch 3 when it was not double the price it is now.

I tried the standard Laphroaig 10 a few years ago, and despite the 40% ABV, found it enjoyable. I find the fact that Distilleries claim 'Americans expect more' in regards to the standard 43% bottling strength a slap in the face to the home market of Scotch whisky.

Not to mention the fact that Americans get 50ml more whisky per bottle than those in the UK - though that is not the fault of the Distilleries.

I had a bottle of Quarter Cask last year, and was disappointed. Medium peat and vanilla - where is the salt, TCP, iodine and seaweed? I have another bottle of it - I may give it to someone as a present.

Of the standard bottlings from Islay, I like Bunnahabhain 12 the most - great value mixed with a lovely mouth-coating flavour. I would say I was disappointed the most by Lagavulin 16 - I found it too thin on the palate. I am glad it was only a 20cl bottle - I cannot say I am in a rush to buy a full bottle any time soon.

Thanks,

Aidan.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
